Since prehistoric times, narrative storytelling has been the backbone of human communication. In this seminar, we trace the history of narrative storytelling from its earliest beginnings to its modern incarnations, and show how the principles and practices of storytelling can be used to convey information about science and technology.The session emphasizes the fundamental concepts of storytelling, and the ways that stories can be constructed and deconstructed according to a few simple structural principles, and outlines the many parallels between narrative structure and the structure of scientific investigations.
